How do you guys feel about the way turrets are currently generated in-game? I'm talking specifically about the Sung and Commonwealth particle turrets and miner blast turrets that are always in neat geometric patterns around stations and the Teraton and Ares turrets that get generated at random angles and distances from their primary.
I've noticed that Sung turrets frequently spawn on top of planets where they can neither fire nor be fired upon. Meanwhile, now that stations have a major tendency to cluster together in some systems, Teraton defenders and chrysalises occasionally spawn inside of nearby friendly stations, leading to major bykill if the Teraton station is attacked. Do stations with turrets need to be generated at greater distances from other nearby objects?

Or perhaps do a check on the turret to see if it spawned incorrectly?

The "spawn on planets" thing happens with Anarchists as well.....the only way you can kill them is with a crate bomb........
Perhaps with Clustered enemies (like the Dwarg, Anarchists, Sung and Ares), the stations should spawn just far enough away from planets so that nothing can physically spawn on planets?

I think he's talking about loading a cargo crate full of fuel. When that detonates, it makes a very large explosion. Though, I'm not sure how you'd detonate the crate when it's on top of a planet.schilcote wrote:What?Shrike wrote:crate bomb
You don't.......you make one with fuel and/or weapons, and make a BIG one, and put it next to the planet. Only works if the target is just beside it though......you just need the blast to be big enough to reach the station, but still be able to hit the crate.Curudan wrote:I think he's talking about loading a cargo crate full of fuel. (And it generally costs more than it's worth)

For planet-bound turrets and stations... if you go the right route don't the Domina wave powers damage them?
My first mod, mostly done, still balance testing.
