ZZT - "ASCII" style
Nethack - both versions
Castle of the Winds - one of my favorites - primitive graphics.
Perhaps these could be of use in gleaming ideas for the current project?

Schilcote, I doubt that I am going to ever let you connect to any database on my server. Get your own ${ouch} a month dedicated server and web hosting/ development company with half a dozen paranoid clients and I am sure you'll have an inkling why I am not opening up my doors and databases to your experimentation.
That's alright, I can't blame you. I wouldn't let me anywhere near my database either. You should've seen the first version of Schilbot :p.
