I've just started tooling around with the XML files for Transcendence, and have made a few ships of my own. However, ships I have made thus far have just used the ship models from the game.
Running around in a Corsair-II or an Ares heavy gunship with modified weapons and statistics is entertaining, but looks really hokey. Any ship that I've tried to make via GIMP has looked out of place or really off-kilter compared to George's sprites.
I'm wondering, how does Mr. Moromisato make a ship, graphically speaking? I'd like to make custom ships that "blend" into the universe at least half-way.
Ship Graphics
I'm not an expert on the subject, but I believe they are made from 3D models, and viewed from certain angles at 18 facings.
If you want examples of graphics, btw, look at the Dvlenk's graphics site.
Dvlenk and Oddbob are what I consider the main respected graphics makers in the Transcendence community, excluding George himself.
