As for the Ferians, the salvager idea sounds good, provided the salvager is slow and weaker than a warrior. Otherwise, might as well have the warrior salvage dead miners.
If George wants to be evil, he can have the new Ferian salvager seek out and loot any wreck, not just dead miners, within 100 ls of the hive then haul the loot back to the hive. When it is not looting ships, it orbits the hive in patrol mode (looking for wrecks).
