Often, I accidentally use Shatter when I bring up the Domina power menu, but I did not have a mishap until now. My last game was great until I pressed I to access the menu (so I can use B or D), then accidentally press I again, and fragged all three of my wingmen in an instant. With my game ruined, I quit.
Desperate Escape and Shatter should switch places. That is, Shatter should be H and Desperate Escape should be I. Besides, the more impressive power is the one that lets the player cheat death, rather than deal it.
Shatter should not use the I key.

Ummm...Desperate Escape does not even need a key TBH; it should just show up in the list. It can't be invoked unlike all of the others; it triggers automatically.

Getting a response after pressing the key for Desperate Escape may be okay; the player expects a response after using other powers.
All I care now is for Shatter to get off the "I" key. I have double pressed "I" more times than I care to admit, and blowing up friendlies (and then getting blacklisted as a result) due to an extra twitchy finger is an unnecessary "Yet Another Annoying Death".

All Saints Have a Past & All Sinners Have A Future...
Yes. You need 2000 xp to reach the fifth rank. Each slave coffin is worth 100 xp, and each Halo gem is worth 200 xp. Other offerings include optical knowledge arrays worth 20 xp apiece. Abbasid thanograms and jewels of contemplation go for 100 xp per item. There are other items such as death cubes that yield experience as well, but I do not remember how much they give. Slave coffins and Halo gems are the most common offerings you will find, and Halo gems are rare.

I just killed both of my wingmen in an instant because of an accidental shatter activization. To say that I thoroughly lend my support to this is an understatement.
It's immensely frustrating to lose both wingmen in an split second from an accidental key press.

I think the problem is that "repeat key" functionality is enabled.
It is easy to reproduce the problem: just press 'I' and keep it down for a second. Shatter will invoke automatically.
The problem is that the key press starts to repeat if you hold it down too long.
I've fixed this in 1.04 by disabling repeating keys when accessing the menu.

Some of my "I" double presses happened when I pressed "I", then absent-mindedly pressed "I" again a second later. Sometimes, it is a reflex to double press the same key to undo an action (in other games). The powers menu stays up until you press a key, either to use a power or remove the menu. This is why "I" for Shatter is dangerous and a game ender if activated accidentally at the worst possible time.
My issue with Shatter (when I've played recently) is like PM - I sometimes press it again either absentmindedly or in haste trying to get the menu to show up (I don't know if it's actual visual lag for me or I'm just overreacting in those situations).
Fortunately for me most of my Shattering accidents just cost me a great deal of loot and MAYBE a wingman I was planning to leave somewhere...

My first mod, mostly done, still balance testing.

If you've already attained Domina powers and don't mind seeing the mechanics, you can extract the data from Transcendence source Domina.xls.
I've simply pasted the blocks for Shatter and Ingenuity at the end of my "in development" mod and switched their hotkeys. Works for already started games as well.
Ingenuity is the power I mostly use, as I keep the other ones as last-resort measures: Black market stations and CSCs are an endless source of upgradeable reactors that gain 50% over their purchase value when enhanced by Ingenuity at 10% chance.
Or... you could remap the hotkeys in 1.02+
I guess the original intent was for shatter to be the panic button for desperate escapes when being swarmed.

Looking back on it, I think that what PM said is pretty much what happened to me, also. It was late at night, and I was a little bit groggy, and I think that I tried pressing the "I" key, immediately after opening the menu, to try to close it.
I think I'll just try SiaFu's solution and make a custom extensions for myself. This is the first time it's happened in 2+ years of playing Transcendence, but I don't want to risk this happening again.
