Try a kiloton.

>.<
I use it sometimes. It's a nice area weapon and it being thermo, it can do a lot of damage to several ships within it's area range. Ammo is no problem. Kill all the Ares Tundra Gunship's you see and also check out the Teraton nests. You'll stay well supplied.Siegfried wrote: Is the Ares Micronuke cannon or w/e good? I found a functioning one.
I don't like the Mammoths too well...virtually no regen, and those Ion Disruptors rip through them like it was a Class I deflector. And I can never find blue etherium crystals to reflect the damage.Siegfried wrote:When I donated to one of the CSC (What with the oodles of medical supplies), they upped my rank and they gave me a Plasma Shield Generator. Im not too fond of it though, goes down too easily, so I believe Ill switch back to the Mammoth 50MW deflector for now.
And yes, I know "That's what the TPs are for." Unless it's an emergency, I only order diamond field crystals for the Iocyrm Veil I'll get later, and use moldium crystal + diamond fields. (Iocyrm Veil +70%HP, baby!

Why didn't you like it? The weapon of mass destruction is omnipotent...in my freighter game(i had inertaless drive). Try it. I used it on the ranx too...

>.<
What is the Weapon of Mass Destruction? And I said why I don't like the Mammoths. Try fighting the Venturi Destroyers w/one! Or a Ranx Dreadnought! The plasma shield holds up better -- use a Longzhu sphere on it, they're cheap in 0.97a.

Yeah, after trying out the Plasma Shield out for a bit longer I like it more.
It may have less than the Mammoth but the regen speed is worth it.
I also tried the Ares Micronuke cannon and didnt like it too much.

If you like the plasma shield a lot but still fear all the Ion weapons, you should try the Ion reflector. Same level as the plasma shield [lvl 8], same resistance balance as well. Power use is slightly higher but barely noticable in comparison. HP is lower, however, but it does reflect Ion, so you could use either particle reflect, positron reflect or simply enhance the HP.
It's a very good shield in a dog fight and pretty decent in a larger battle against Ion equipped enemies...their hits to your shield will reflect and often, will end up hitting one of their own.
I use the Ion reflector if I can't find my trusty ole Invincible-class.
Since ya don't care much for the micro nuke, and if it's thermo that you want, I'd suggest trying the way under-rated thermo cannon (preferably omni). It's a mean little cannon in that it quickly takes out Ares ships and Luminous (Ion/particle equipped) drones. Oh, and it is also very good against Ranx gunships as well. ...The Ranx Dreaded 'Nought", however, is a different story. Their ain't no weapon in the game that can quickly kill that beast!

Yeah, the Dwarg Holochroal helps with the ion weapons though ^_^, and I do have my shields set to reflect the ion damage.FAD wrote:If you like the plasma shield a lot but still fear all the Ion weapons, you should try the Ion reflector. I may try to find an omni thermo cannon at some point though. Ive found that one fun way to take out a Ranx Dreadnought, is if you have a mammoth 100MW Deflector thats enhanced, run up to the dreadnought and pound on it while its own splash damage from its weapon hits it

To me, the kiloton...and yes. Mammoths aren't my type nither. I once fought an earth slaver.Dosgamer3 wrote:What is the Weapon of Mass Destruction? And I said why I don't like the Mammoths. Another game, to test out my new G'K'Treien mods. And what d'ya know? First crystal I get is the fabled Blue Etherium ion-reflecting crystal! Soon as complain...
So, since when I say I can never find something, I immedieatly find it:
I have found the Ion Reflector only once, and that was back around 0.95 or so!
And I've figured out what the REAL Weapon of Mass Destruction is (besides the Iocyrm Disintegrator, duh): the Heavy Ion Blaster w/Longzhu Sphere!!

The heavy Ion blaster is nice, and quite deadly. But if you're going Ion, there's no comparison to the IM90 multitarget blaster.
The heavy ion blaster damage: 7d6 = 7-42
The IM90 multitarget blaster damage: 5d6 (x1) = 5-30 (x3) = 15-90
If only one enemy, targeted, usually only two shots will hit the target while the third will shoot off into neverland but, to add the two that will hit you'll get 10-60. Even better, if you get up close to the enemy target then all three will hit it. Yeowzers!
For me, the real weapon of mass destruction is the Fusionfire Wowitzer (thermo 16-104 standard and enhanced 25% brings it up to 20-130). I've gotten so used to it that I can cap a moving Dwarg Master from off in the distance by calc'g the trajectory by distance*momentum (aim in front of his path). And I can hit it 4 out of 5 times....one hit and he's dead. Now there's something for you to try.
