We (George) make Transcendence online BUT not the entire game... :wink:
I was thinking something along the lines of of trading soo,when someone needs something for a cheaper price,or when someone needs money,he goes to this online system,where the other players who need money/equipment go and dock with them(or some kind of station where everyone will dock,and talk) and via some ingame chat or something they make deals...
That way,whoever needs money will go get it there,and whoever needs equipment will also go there.
I know it's really hard to do,and someone probably already posted that idea,but I had to get it out of me..

Do you mean an online exchange in Transcendence like the Corporate Trading Stations, but where you buy/sell from other players? It would be great to have it, but I know from reading some pages on the Transcendence website and on the forums that the Transcendence game engine is not online compatible. It would require a complete rewrite of the entire game, and I'd rather George spent that time developing new game content.

Maybe it's better. I don't like online games. :| Playing with lives opponents isn't happy for me :x
But from the other side it can be really intresting :D

It would be awesome if the arena was online, so you play against other players, but as I said, it would require a complete system rewrite, and I'd rather George spent that time adding new game content.

No,guys,no fighting,just trading... Fuel,guns,shields,armor,meds,everything...
But yeah,I figured it would need to be done from scratch,so,it's a no-go :/

It would be a great tool to have, but yeah, no-go. Also consider that in a game so extensively moddable, players could sell you a level 98 shield for all your credits but you get it and it has just 1 hp and no regen. Or they could get two computers and sell some end game stuff to their new game for 1 credit. It would have to be seriously policed to make sure players aren't scamming each other.

The both ideas are bad, sorry :(
Trading is bad, because there are too little stuff in the game and in single player we can be rich in short time even without mods :) (So we have great trade in single)
And fighting is bad for the same reason :!: It will be very quickly get bored, really :o REALLY QUICKLY
But idea is intresting and if sombody make it, I promise I will try :D

I mean a person gets two computers, both online, both with a separate account, then they sell high level stuff to their low level account, and dominate in the early game.

Don't forget modded weapons. They would totally destroy the balance of the game (especially in PvP).

I've been thinking about something similar. Imagine the following function:

(unvSetData {extensionUNID} {attrib} {data})

This function would store data on a neurohack.com server. The data would be persistent across all players and all games. And of course, there would be related functions like unvGetData, unvIncData, etc.

What could you do with that? One idea is to make the Luminous "learning" algorithm global (i.e., persistent across all players).

Another possibility might be a global store, as Cpt Niceguy suggests--though I also agree that there are some potential balance issues to deal with.

My point is that such a set of functions might allow some kinds of (limited) multiplayer interactions without requiring a real-time multiplayer engine.

Are there other potential ideas?

It might be possible to store a playership's equipment on the server so you can upload your ship (with unmodded content) to the server, and play against other player's ships with an AI. Then you could more or less challenge another player without real-time online play.
