I ran some tests on 10 card. Awesome game, BTW. Found one problem-- when exiting the game after a win, the dialogue will display a "you lose..." and the amount I had initially bet is deducted from my account.

Anyway, just to let ya's know; I'll be out of town after Christmas day (today) and will return after the new year. I plan on getting back into working on this mod when I return.
Hope everyone is having a great Christmas!

If you think 10 Card is good, I have already completed and debugged Blackjack (minus splits) and I will be debugging an OTB game over the next few games.

As an interesting spin-off, has anyone thought about making a racing mini-game to complement the arena? It shouldn't be too hard. The simplest version would to be a timed trial through a closed circuit of Arena like walls. Other options include a race to dock at a series of checkpoints, or even passing through a series of rings (coupling this with a signal flare that needs to be activated within a certain distance, or a distance check ever other tick)

Made it back from my trip and a bit early to beat traffic. :D

Wowzers to Blackjack! An excellent addition to the casino. May end up getting that gambling fever yet. :P
Send the updated xml when ya can. I'm going to replace one of the "perk" images with D6's original so that part will be complete. Will also get back to working on the stations outer graphics as well and will start on the animations for it soon.
Still need the dockscreen image(s) Care to give those a whirl, D6?

I think a racing "arena" would be fun. There's a lot of different options that could be considered there. Could use brand new AI contender racing ships to further the challenge--some being fast but low thrust, others of equal average speed but slow turn-rate or whatever. Maybe even have random booby traps like lower shields followed by low-powered short-range EMP turrets that would delay the racers for a few seconds if hit.

That racing arena sounds a lot like the Playstation II Wipeout series.

@ Burzmali, anything new on your games dev? We could start putting the final touches to this mod's code as well as get the images ready and release it sometime soon.
I've got a little spare time to work on the images, how 'bout you, D6?

I have 10 Card at 100%, Blackjack at 95% (no splits) and Off-track-betting at maybe 60% (needs liberal debugging, and payout code completed). If I get an hour or two this weekend, I'll try to pull together a version that doesn't cause an outright crash.

Sounds good. Another thing we need to get ironed out is the casino loan timer/events. Still haven't found the best solution for that one.

A quick recap:
Currently, partial loan pay-backs work and remaining balance will update and display--no timer for this yet.
We had discussed that the timer should be somewhat lengthy, allowing the player enough time to make the pay-off. First delinquent payment (or nonpayment) would result in a warning, setting the timer for a shorter length. Following that would result in the penalty triggers (still indecisive); Ban the player from all same-sov facilities, unleash bounties and lastly, the air-lock (game over).

All hail FAD and Burzmali!!

This will rock. And for the debt collection thing, why not make a new sovereign made up of scattered bounty hunters that come after you and tell you to follow them, if you don't (as in if you get too far away) they thermonuke you. And if you lack the funds, the interest doubles for an extension, and here's the caveat: only one extension, and if you still don't pay up after the next extension, they turn you over to the Teraton for a medical experiment. And NO, you don't get paid, in fact your cash gets zeroed.

However, the same group of mercs will be available for hire, with the higher class ships being more expensive. (Say 50k for each Molotok or equivalent with Thermonukes, but only 3k per Corsair III)

What thinks?

What we have at the moment for bounties are pretty mean rascals but are well balanced, although we haven't decided what sov we're going to be here yet so the penalties are still pending.

I like your idea on Mercenaries for hire...actually, that could work great as a mod in itself.

UPDATE: D6 is working on the casino structure and it's looking premo! The animation is soon to follow...stay tuned!

Would be cool if you could equip the mercenaries with the weapons and armor of your choice and then give them insurance or something so that you can buy them back if they die. Hmmm..... I'm thinking of more D2 again....

PS, someone ought to move the "new topic" button away from the "post reply" button at the end of a thread. I've gotten close to posing a new topic by mistake so many times.

I've already posted a number of ideas regarding this on this topic.

The original topic of the title was "Crazy idea for a mission but might be fun". I've changed it so that it explains what is in the thread better.

I didn't think it was already possible. So, I posted it in Bugs and brainstorms. Anyways, tell me what you think of those ideas.

D2 LOD I do believe. D2 alone had non-manageable mercs, vs. the mercs that would follow you around in LOD

Diablo II is commonly abbreviated as D2. The expansion pack is abbreviated as LOD which stands for Lord of Destruction (the lord of destruction is Baal, the last of the prime evils who is the last boss at the end of the expansion pack). The expansion pack introduces so much new stuff that it's more of a must have add-on rather than a simple expansion.

Considering the last post was only a few weeks ago and this is a pretty long-term thing anyway, I'd say.... no.

Have patience ;)
