I think that there are a lot of people in Europe, who don't know english and T game. Maybe
we should make a new webpages about Transcendence but in other languages. For example
->Transcendencegame.pl or Tgame.ru<-
I have this idea, coz people sometimes don't know any other language. If I will for example make
Polish T webpage, then I think there will be much greater intresting in this game here in Poland.
If a man don't know Eng very well then he isn't very willing to join to our community even if he like game.
I mean that people in (fe) Spain will be resolved to intresting in this game IF the webpage will be in they language.
It always better to writing in Your language, not in other...
Of course we need some people from spain if we want to make a spain webpage. (Spain is only example, there can be russian, polish...) And of course there will be great administration problem, coz I suppose that any of you can't administrate polish page...
I'm just intresting that it's good idea in your opinion ?

This is a great idea, however, you should get an okay from George first. I'd like to help, but I don't know any other language beside TLISP and some math.....

None of the current moderators can moderate a Polish website. We cannot open an official website or endorse an official translation of the game into a language unless someone George trusts can oversee it.

I agree with the above.Atarlost wrote:None of the current moderators can moderate a Polish website. We cannot open an official website or endorse an official translation of the game into a language unless someone George trusts can oversee it.
Nevertheless, it would be possible to start an "unofficial site". Before the official site, there were the Unofficial Transcendence Forums, which were moderated by volunteers.
Perhaps a motivated bi-lingual person could start up a forum site in a particular language. The site moderator would be responsible for running the site and (perhaps) for cross-posting from the official to the unofficial.
I would be happy to answer questions that come from that site as long as someone (the moderator) could translate for me.

i think somewhere a topic suggested having sub-forums for other languages, but it was decided against as it /might/ split up the community.
which is what having other forums would do
but. if you keep the forums English only, you could have translations of the main page in different languages without the need for mods/admins to speak them.

I think we made he right decision on language-specific sub-forums, but not because it might split the community.sdw195 wrote:i think somewhere a topic suggested having sub-forums for other languages, but it was decided against as it /might/ split up the community.

People who don't read/write English are already outside the current community. Bi-lingual people will probably spend time in both places because (at least for a while) the Official Forums will be larger. In fact, bi-lingual people can serve as the bridge between the Official Forums and any unofficial forums in other languages, translating posts as appropriate.

Firstly, we shouldn't translate the game, to big and complicated business. Secondly, there can be only one offical site : this. This new "will" be unoffical.
So page and forum should be in Polish, but game still in English. I know, sometimes it can be little difficult for "us", but I think that language in game is more simplest than in forum or site...

Now this is why your in the lead ship: you think beyond the stars of glory
the rest of us obviously got caught up in the actual game being translated for release or supporting different languages:
this is great work.
I am sure it would only be easy for bilingual players.. however: I once saw a , shall we say , uncooth words used in mod features: like F(censored) shield....these thing would require watching: one of the players I know for this game is 8 years old and has enough of a big mouth....where do they learn Poopy head?......it kills me.

I don't think non-English material can be hosted on Xelerus unless one of the existing Xelerus mods volunteers to moderate in another language. I think there are speakers of some of the major western European languages among the mods, but I think we're limited to stuff like Italian and German. Spanish is probably right out because, like English, it's an imperialist language and a Spaniard might not catch Mexican profanity and visa versa. There's no equivalent of Hollywood or Monty Python dragging Spanish language profanity back and forth across the Atlantic.shanejfilomena wrote:I am sure it would only be easy for bilingual players.. however: I once saw a , shall we say , uncooth words used in mod features: like F(censored) shield....these thing would require watching: one of the players I know for this game is 8 years old and has enough of a big mouth....where do they learn Poopy head?......it kills me.
