Wow, I actually had a similar storyline to Freeworlds in mind for Sandbox, except it was Anarchists being terrorists to the Corporate for their unjust practices (firing humans and replacing them with ferians/zoanthropes.)
Question:
Many players destroy the first Domina station to get loot, and nothing ever comes out of that. How would they defend themselves against the Sung?
One speculation I have is for Domina stations to use the Sustain power to protect their shines.

I really like this, both the post itself and where you are taking Transcendence,
but,
when reading through your post i couldnt help thinking that there is one tool we seriously need as modders.
The ability to easily place stations, or other objects, in systems based on criteria similar to those used in the vanilla xml. We should be able to write a piece of xml that hooked into system generation and allowed us to place objects that act as hooks into new storylines.
For example, if I wanted to spawn a destroyed corp enclave that could trigger the "corp v anarchist" storyline. This station should only appear in systems above a certain level and be unique in the universe. So, we need to be able to specify some of the places and the probability for that stations generation. It should also only generate when the player has accomplished some previous goals. So, perhaps we should also be able to return 'false' from the OnCreate event in the case there is some criteria that is not fulfilled (and in that case the station would not be created)
Maybe we should open some forum thread to discuss this issue, or create a ticket?

Hi - I like those ideas. I do have vague plans to use my mission framework mod to add a few missions based around the Centauri and the Corporate Hierarchy broadly similar to the Freeworlds idea, except the Centauri would be capturing ships and annoying isolated stations rather than managing to destroy anything.
BTW - do you have any plans to include something like the mission framework in the core game?

@Giantcabbage: yeah, George said he liked the idea on the first IRC day and said it's worth moving. I don't know when it will happen though (I should've made that a follow up question!
