As some of you know Im An Elite weapon maker(Or at least I think I am :P )But I sometimes run out off ideas and Im thinking about getting ideas from the community :)
So...Can any of you give me Ideas (Oh and if you have a Request for a weapon plz PM me :mrgreen: (Yes Im just that bored)

for awhile i thought : there is room for more : but after searching i found there is almost a weapon for every half brained idea and twice as many that we can actually survive with.

However , I found some weapons RPC made to be extremely interesting ; so obviously there is still room for more.

I do not remember if I used the Dakota Cannon in anything posted, but plasma damage weapons are very powerful and with the Dakota i learned the best way to " nerf" them for use in a regular style game was to shorten the range : which also made them deadlier if your attacked by something " THAT" close.

Well, one thing I'm working on is an "orbital" weapon. The kind of thing you might get as a power-up in arcade space shooters. I'm considering several types including:
  • The extra weapon type that fires at the same time as the player, at the same target (could fire anything from a laser to a missile), and ideally, with the same weapon the player is firing.
  • The autodefense type that fires a very short range weapon at anything that enters range (this would basically be an auton equipped with both an omni-laser to attack ships/stations and a missile-defense laser)
  • The shield type that attemps to block any incoming weapons fire by intercepting it (not firing a weapon at it). I'm not sure how I'm going to code this one yet, but I've got a couple of ideas.
While these are basically just variations of autons, they will constantly orbit the player at very short range or fly in formation, will not chase enemies, and most will be very small (to help avoid accidentally blocking player weapons).

I wouldn't be surprised if someone else already did something like this, but if my ideas are in any way original, you are free to steal them. :wink:

Armed planets, to defend stations in orbit (corporate\Commonwealth\taikon....Pirates\sung....) and when the station is destroyed the weapon cease fire

I have done "orbital stations": nothing fancy just really dockable planets as factories : but the idea was to be sure the game could handle them properly as factories so i could do my " other ideas " : deeper dock screen " adventures " for missions.

Anyway : orbital stations with weapons / planetary weapons : I thought on that for like three minutes and decided it was not good because the variety of stations : but here you pointed out the obvious that i missed: objGetSovereign if there is a station near the planet.

I like this idea. will not use it ( i have a different track for " planetary weapon " ( actually the planet defends itself if the player drags a type of hostile to it ) that use )
but it is a better solution to the question of " what if it's not a friendly station?"

If is a Hostile station the planet should be hostile as well, and the player would be under heavy fire(probably only of missiles), the same idea the station keep shooting till the station be destroyed, but a new IDEA is when the station is destroyed the planet become friendly and the player can buy and sell things on the planet :D

ahhh.. the changing sovereign..
I was JUST thinking of that before i got killed by a bunch of Kobol after 20+ systems in the Letter Of Marque. No Insurance. Which is funny because I am big on Insurance stations :) Now I got to start over. ( my rule is " no Insurance: no resurrections" ).

However, I was thinking on it for something not related to Planets : dockable planets are " an old idea " and the thing about them is you do NOT want to do what has been done. I read the dockable planets files then decided that I would never do regular trade stations like that: instead I did the factories / mission stations.....anything BUT a commerce station because there are too many in the game already.

I was thinking of changing the Player's Sov depending on how they behave in the game : if you blow up too much stuff your the enemy of that Sov the entire game not just for that station.....if you trade Illegals you get a different Sov: If your Fleet , etc......
but it is difficult to do in the official version but I think it would be interesting. the fun part is making it work without replicating things already done.

I can see why planetary defense sounds like a good idea for protecting a planet from invasion but I always figured that was what the orbiting stations were for. Otherwise you would need a way to bombard a planet and take stuff. Possible for future or modded systems.
Reminds me of the planetary defenses of Anacreon.
I think something more along the lines of what the Teratons use as far as defense satellites or the ice farms with their drones would be more useful and since it's a planet with resources regenerating them would make sense.

planetary defenses would be a good idea cause you can put a lot more missiles on a planet than you could ever put on a ship or station, and when you destroy the orbiting station they would surrender to the attacker and than this same attacker(new idea :arrow: ) could be the "King" of the planet could administering its economy, getting money :D , resources and other things...( Let's conquer the galaxy and rule like gods! :twisted: )

There's a other version Its called DarkStarOne for PC and Xbox 360 :P
