I was away from this game and community for a while, and I expected to find some changes, but...Wow. The new Dynamic Types feature looks awesome! :D Am I right in thinking that Dynamic Types will let me generate new types of armor plates programmatically? As in, I could have armor that replaces itself with an upgraded type of armor that didn't exist until the upgrade was needed?

Maybe this will resurrect that old organic ship mod? A true 'learning' ship would be very cool. Maybe has to 'eat' ships (docking with wrecks) to increase certain aspects like reactor size, armor strength, regen etc... vewwwy inturesting!

Could you earn 'points' (some arbitrary variable) and then spend them to increase stuff? Cargo size to make it a cargo vessel, Weapon hardpoints to make it a combat ship, manouverability (which would actually go down with mass increase as ship grew otherwise) to make it a fighter etc. One mod I might do seperately (if I figure out how) is to make drive additions. I always thought you should be able to increase maneouverability, thrust and top speed seperately, each costing device slots. The drive itself would increase one of these and additional devices would increase others. Only one of each booster allowed. Something similar on an organic ship would be nice, upgrading whichever of these you wanted for a price.

Consider me embarrassed. *slaps self in face*

I remember a couple of weeks ago checking it out and it seemed it was still an old version on Xelerus. My mistake. And yes, I was thinking of the Wyvera not the Agauptera class ship. I guess I should say Wyveras, I played both the fighter and cruiser style ships from that mod. I liked it, though the cruiser was a little big to fit easily through the entrance to the arena *grins*. Not that means a lot (and you could always force your way in with little judicious continuous thrust). I think that problem comes from most large ships (that I've tried anyway, mostly I've used Playership drones v4 for piloting other ships)

I liked the feel of the original Wyvera but felt there could be more of a feel of the ship developing over time. I went away from it partly because I thought I was probably more to do with the limitations of Transcendence (at the current version) than your mod and so would be a while before it became 'mature', and partly because with playership drones I could 'evolve' my ship by buying a new one as the game progressed. Not as good but it seemed to flow better with the game progress. I'd still like to see an organic ship done a little more completely (if that is possible in Transcendence right now) but honestly I haven't tried the Agauptera so maybe it's already here? When I finally get finished with my current game mayhaps I'll give it a go. :)

Edit: Idle thought, eating advanced tech to 'level up' the ship? Maybe you have to get more advanced stuff from later in the game to be able to get the ship better later on? Maybe low level stuff increases leveling up slower and slower as time goes on, virtually doing nothing when you've increased the ship potential? Be annoying in that there would be an actual cap on ship capabilities... I like the idea that things could keep getting better on your ship if you keep upgrading, but there needs to be some sort of slowing down as things go on to keep in pace with how far in the game you've gone.

Actually, Patupi, the suggestions you made are a lot of what I had in mind. :D
I had come up with this about a year ago. I've developed graphics for it, but not much else, because the game engine itself wasn't yet flexible enough to support what I really wanted to do. Now, with the new dynamic types, I'm feeling like pushing forward again.
And yes, a lot of my concepts are borrowed from the Wyvera mod. I understand the developer of that is planning to update it extensively in light of a lot of new features that have been added to the engine.
