Domina powers are essential for surviving in transcendence. Here's how you can get them all and early:
1. Free slaves from the SUNG SLAVERS.
2. Offer them to Domina in a "Sisters of Domina" building.
3. About 7-20 are enough to get you to Patriach rank.

Yep. Nebular sight definitely comes in handy soon after the sung appear, and ingenuity, circle of wrath, and shatter are all very useful too.

You can find Death Cubes and carved prayer stones before encountering the Sung.

Optical knowledge arrays are also a decent way to get favour with Domina. Five arrays are equivalent to one slave and they can show up much earlier, plus they're not as rare as death cubes, Abbasid thanograms, or prayer stones.
I think about offering slaves to domina the same way as trading them, so I dont do it. With some luck however you can pick up a load of optical knowledge arrays in St. Katherines, maybe even before. Carved prayer stones and 'lux type of goods are pretty rare in that part of the game.

If you play with mods, you can use the Napper Auton to insta-kill enemy and friendly ships; the Napper will attack the enemy ship, which dies immediately if un-shielded. After that, the Napper will return to the player. As you can buy Nappers at most Black Market stations (or from smuggler transports), you can potentially start racking up the slaves before you even hit St. K's.

I'm not sure how important Domina powers really are. I've finished several times without them, though I usually restart to analyse game play dynamics, and the last time I used Domina powers was probably some time in 2009 if not further back.

Domina powers are overpowered when used optimally. They are like temporary but rechargeable cheat codes.
Sustain = Life saver.
Defend = Godmode for a few seconds.
Nebular Sight = Map all stations in nebula.
Ingenity = Free powerups to equipment, use enhanced items for yourself or sell them for a bigger profit. This is the power I abuse the most.
Desperate Escape = Permadeath is very easy to honor once this power is obtained.

Playership Drones: Buy or restore exotic ships to command!
Other playable mods from 1.8 and 1.7, waiting to be updated...
Godmode v3 (WIP): Dev/cheat tool compatible with D&O parts 1 or 2.

I wouldn't call any of those "over powered" because they're merely convenient or temporary. However, one domina power is easily abused in the late game: "Restore." By taking a Mammoth Deflector, and then eventually the Kaidun shield generator off of a dreadnought, and then applying diamond field crystals and Longzhu spheres until the shield has more than twice as many hitpoints as it starts with, you can get to a place where restore recharges almost as fast as it takes for the strongest enemies to tear down your massive shields.PM wrote:Domina powers are overpowered when used optimally. the knowledge cubes are "soles" which give you a reward with Domina.
