Idea: Official Mod Contest

How about an Official Mod Contest, with categories like "best weapon", "best armor", "best item", etc? I say "Official" because possibly the best items in each category would get integrated into the base game in the next version.

Having a contest like this would be great because it would really inspire modders to make high quality, balanced mods, and not just experimental or overpowered mods. It also be good for the game itself because tapping into the ideas of a whole community would help add coolness, diversity, and fun (like how some TV shows make use of a whole writing staff under a head writer). I know my hope is that some of my mods will be good enough to be integrated into the base game, or, even if they're not... to perhaps inspire something to be added to the game that's even cooler then what I modded.

Of course for this to work, the founder, captain, and big cheese George would have to like the idea and want to do it, and he might think it's a totally dumb idea.... especially since he'd have to judge it and pick the best mods, and he might not want to spend the time doing that, or just might not like being a judge.

(BTW, George, whenever I make a suggestion relating to the game, I always start with the assumption that you have no extra time to spare and have plenty of plans for things you want to add to the game already. Unfortunately, I have lots and lots and lots of ideas... so hopefully by now you're not looking at the forums and thinking "Oh man, not another hair brained idea! Oh great, that one would only take me about a hundred hours to implement. What is with these people? Do they think time grows on trees!")
