Wow, George, this is great and interesting news. I really look forward to seeing where you take this. If there is anything that I can help with please let me know. I will be glad to support your endeavor if possible. Here's to a 2012 of toy-building! :D

Personally, I prefer a pay once, and then maybe get a few large full-size expansion pack releases sort of model.
I'm entirely detached from the paid-app world myself, I only purchase software for computers.
As to anacreon, I have to agree with atarlost that while my prior habits would predict I would spend hundreds of hours in it, I was never really able to get into it. I think a major put off for me was the lack of randomly generated 'skirmish' type maps/gameplay (Basically, single player, vs. AI, randomly generated). As I recall anacreon required pre-programed scenarios, or multiplayer. Those were never really my thing.

I used to play Anacreon back in the early/mid nineties. I don't really remember exactly when. My brother and I played it a lot, though. Seriously, hundreds of hours. I don't have the patience for a game like that anymore, and I suck at strategy games, so I don't think that I'll ever give it another try. I'll always remember it as a classic, though.
I discovered Transcendence through Abandonia. I love the game itself, and I love how easy it is to mod, although I'm not much of a modder. I do like games with options and maybe that's got something to do with it.
I'm pretty cheap; I don't think I'd pay more than $5-$10 for Transcendence, depending on just how much I was getting. About 2 or 3 bucks for each expansion sounds about right, depending on size again. Like Wolfy, I only buy software for a computer, but that could change in the future. I also prefer the expansion model over paid DLC, but really I want to be able to buy a game once, then never worry about the money side of it again. I'm also a fan of the Humble Bundle.
I forgot to mention, this is very exciting news and I wish you the best of luck.

wow, I will support your venture in any way I can.
I always thought of transcendence as indie and now it even has a indie company behind it.

Having recently acquired a multi-capacitive touchscreen Android tablet, I was curious about whether or not Transcendence was being adapted to Android tablets. Does anyone have any information regarding this?

I think there was someone who expressed interest in doing that a while back, but it was found the UI would need such a massive overhaul that it would be fundamentally changing to gameplay to get it to work with touch screen input only, or else end up being seriously gimmicky.

Thanks Wolfy, that is indeed a pity though.
Was surprised when I saw that when I downloaded 1.08b of the game.
Also, the changes were amazing! It made me want to play the game again when I saw that part where I can register an account and share some of my progress with others.
