why are the forums so dead

I believe that after a few weeks of inactivity, IRC deletes registered nicks :(

It never deletes them unless you tell it to, or unless someone takes it over after over a year of innactivity.

They shortened the time period a lot, but AFAIK it dosen't actually delete anything when the time is up, it just marks them as availabile if someone else asks for them. I think.

It removes the password, so anyone can /nick it and register it, so basically deletes it off whoever it was registered for.

There was a recent services purge, so nicknames registered but not used for a while were removed. However, enforcer and the ability to drop a nickname is done after 10 weeks + 1 week for every year registered for a maximum of 15 weeks.

The nicknames are not automatically dropped they still have to be poked by staff to be able to be registered. :)


(Yeah I know its complicated =D)
