Same as my last plethora of ideas, just with different ideas.
1) Device upgrading changes - Y'know where you can have your shield "upgraded" to a Monopole Deflector? I think that afterwards there should be more options to upgrade.
I think something like Monopole -> Yoroi S100 -> Yoroi MX -> etc. There can also be options "Would you like to upgrade to X, Y, or Z?".
I know that this has been suggested before, but I believe it was worth brining it up again.
2) Reverse thrust - Something that has also been suggested before is reverse thrust. It would be very useful on slow-turning ships such as the freighter.
This could already come with drives, or it could be an extra drive device you can install (Retro rockets?).
Originally suggested by Betelgeuse
3) Station and wreck labels - This idea is pretty big. What I'm suggesting is that whenever you see stations, wrecks, or possibly even moving ships, is that what their name is is labeled next to them, when you're in the main screen. Here's some screenshots I edited:
Sample with all labels
Sample with only stations
I think both ships and stations looks a bit too much, but you could lower the font size, change the font, change the colour, etc.
I think this should only be viewable with new "Info Roms" - one for friendly ship, one for friendly stations, one for all friendlies, one for enemy ships, etc...
4) Korolev choice - I think there should be more choice in Korolev escorts - for the first few escorts you only get 500 credits but there are less enemies, and then you get onto the 1000-, 2000-, and 5000-credit escorts. I believe you should have the option of choosing the easier escorts once you "unlocked" the harder ones.
5) Elysium too accessible - Getting to Elysium seems a bit easy to me - you only need one item to gain access to pretty much wherever you want!
Maybe the gem could be rarer, or the drive take twice as much fuel, or maybe the gem only works a third of the time, etc.
There could also be a risk of something like opening a dimensional rip and powerful unknown aliens come through and start attacking you, etc.

6) New type of Jumpdrive - I think there should be a less powerful version of the jumpdrive that teleports you something like 40 distance units away - just enough to get out of a bad fight. Something that takes around 25-50 Mw. A nice name could be a hopdrive! Also, I think the getting-to-Elysium ability should be removed from this drive.
Inspired by Fossaman
7) Fuel use gauge - I would like to see how much time I have left until my fuel runs out - this would be especially handy when managing fuel. It could appear just next to or under the fuel bar.
Something else that'd be useful is the rate that I'm using fuel.

8) Police force - Something that would add a lot more realism and danger (for attacking good guys) is a police force! A new sovereign that patrols around, and if a friendly ship is destroyed a couple of small gunship-sized ships would come along and "investigate" (and attack any enemies). If a friendly station is destroyed, then a larger number of the gunship-sized ships and maybe a cruiser-like ship or two would come along.
Not exactly an urgent thing, but it would be a nice addition to the game.
9) Enhanced autopilot ROM - An enhanced version of the autopilot would be good - pre-programmed with a few manuevers - figure-of-eight, etc.

10) Heretic gate - I think there should be a random chance of your armor being damaged when you go through the Heretic gate (into, and possibly out of Heretic (through both gates)).
This is a bit like falling down stairs in Nethack.
A plethora of ideas, Yugi style 2.0
1 ) yes, nice idea. since the monopole isn't much of an "upgrade".
2 ) yeah. Some of the bigger ships in my mod are almost impossible to fly without reverse.
3 ) not really needed. You should be able to tell yourself
4 ) yes, this would be nice.
5 ) nah, its not really important. Since when has getting places been a challeng eanyway?
6 ) I can do that! my "talon warpdrive has a random 10 to 1000 warp distance
7 ) Yeah, I can never work out how long my fuel will last.
8 ) yeah, I thought of this before, but never suggested it. hehe, little flashing lights!
9 ) not really needed. and why would you want figure of eight anyway?
10 ) why? I don't see the point.

It's really just for beginners.evilbob wrote:3) not really needed. You should be able to tell yourself
Mainly for the roleplaying part (another way the Iocrym are attempting to kill people in Heretic, and partly because it'll teach you a lesson if your armor isn't strong enough.Evilbob wrote:10) why? I don't see the point.

Ok...i really find this annoying...responding problems with your ideas...but:Yugimotomanager wrote:Same as my last plethora of ideas, just with different ideas.

1) I agree with you. But it goes up to the strongest NON-MILITARY shield(probably yoroi s500).
2)Yes...make it installable. It can be modded...BTW.
3) NO! How annoying it will be! I mean, make a different graphic for a diferent station, but not this! Please!
4) An expoit you are suggesting no? Someone doesn't have money and isn't good enought o do the 5000 one...so he does the 2000 one. Repeatedly. No, korolov needs to train other crewmembers...you are needed for the harder challenges.
5)Why are you protecting and making Elysium harder? It's a faster way to go to systems...rather than the...*go back to here...go vack there....* way. It saves fuel!
6)Why should it be removed(the gating ability)? It's fine as it is. And the 40 distance is useless... ferians will still get you...as well as wind slavers.
7)Terrific! And a more...noticable warning message.
8 )<- ha! not a 8) But anyhow: Police force would make it interesting, but then it's like the bounty hunter. No...problem...except when you kill a station... u can't repay.
9) That'll make use of the autopilot ROM.
10) NO! Why? That isn't fun.

I sort of like the labels, but not the way you suggested. I'd like this:
It's deliberately way over the top, just to generate ideas.
There are three levels of "sensor overlay", all of which are optional.
-
Hardcore: information overload.

-The lines around the ships are armor levels. They are on all ships, I just don't want to draw them all.
The circle around the Viking is shield level (the corsair's is so low you can't see it). It start vibrant green and fades into completely transparent as the shield takes damage.
-The text below the corsair means it has a Yoroi MX at 5%. This is only provided for the targeted vessel, as is name.
-The text next to it is equipment. Again, only for targeted vessel. Yellow means the item is damaged. For friendly ships, all this info is in green,
except for damaged.
Red dotted lines indicate the ship in question has detected you and is targetting you with missiles.
-Blue highlight on the Viking means it has launched a cyberattack at somebody. At the moment of launch a blue-green line connects the launching ship and it's target.
-Missiles are lit up yellow, a faint yellow line points to the ship that fired it. I think that missiles (I'm defining missiles as anything from a launcher) aren't actually distinguished in game from regular bullets at the moment, right?
-If there's ever any real communications, whenever someone sends a message a blue line appears to the target, so when a corsair radios for help a blue line connects it and the stargate, or when a wingman says "I'm taking damage" he flashes blue and connects to you, this way you always know who is talking.
Lite: only info about your target and highlighting of incoming missiles. Perhaps some other things from the highest mode.
Special: Shows special stuff. (no, really?
) Stuff like drive trails, maybe plot important items, if a mission asks you to scan ships for contraband, ships with contraband will be highlighted in this mode, etc.

Yes....the way oddbob suggests it makes me change my side. I agree with yugi(the oddbob way).
