More illegal stuff
I'd like to see a weapons that does a similar thing. When activated, it does extra damage and ignores shields completely/takes them down fast. When you atctivate it, it uses a little bit of power, and it uses increasingly more as you leave it on, until you turn it off or your rector overloads.
I think there should also be more general illegal stuff, like more drug-type items and maybe an illegal weapon other than the Actinide such as a Death Ray, which is illegal because it does very little damage to the ship but kills some or all of the crew.

But aren't all the ship's reactors supposed to be nuclear reactors?

So the nuclear reactor would be more powerful than a normal reactor, but also more dangerous. Makes sense.
*cough* all reactors, ave the 1GW one (Zero point, I think) are nuclear. But not in the sense of nuclear power plants we have today. They're fusion reactors (H[sup]3[/sup] fuel), which are thermonuclear.
Thermonuclear = fusion (modern nuclear weapons)
Nuclear= fission (dunno if its just "nuclear")
You wouldn't want a nuclear reactor anyway. It would use different fuel (uranium rods, I think?), be less powerful (not sure about this one. It wouldn'r be more powerful, thats for sure), and it would have nasty risks like a meltdown or a radiation leak. Illegal, yes, useful, no.

They should have illegal items of everything! Maybe some kind of illegal ammo... which the commonwealth hasn't inspected yet.

I don't know who this "we" is (in another thread, perhaps?), but it would be nice to have a large enough group of illegal weapons and items to make "rogue pirate" a viable and divergent game path. Naturally, these items which would give you special abilities--which, as the saying goes, some may consider "unatural"--and make docking at law abiding commonwealth stations impossible.PlayMeNow wrote:Again, we have decided that we need more illegal items.
As for what would make a good illegal weapon, think of what types of things are internatioanlly banned today: nuclear, biological, and chemical.
There isn't much use for biological and chemical weapoons in space, since they don't have an atmosphere to disperse in, but a whole collection of radiation weapons would be nice... beams, missles, mines, the works.
Also, being able to disguise your ship, violating ship identification regulations, would be cool.

(uranium tipped shells wouldn't irradiate the target. not enough material. Depleted uranium is used because its dense, and good for bullets. by this logic, neutronium would be even better.)
