Let's talk about Siege MAGs and the High Flux MAG
Do you use them ?
They are terribly slow. Totally useless when in combat against non-static targets.
When used against stations, be sure that the station is not firing at you, otherwise your expensive MAG will just go poof.
Is it worth keeping them like that ?
On Siege MAGs: useless ?

I only use MAGs very rarely, and then only the 800F and ZG24 (they make fun explosions, like an overpowered starburst)
Siege mags seem pretty useless to me, and I haven't really tried the thermo mags, they are too rare.

If the high flux had the same velocity as the other mags it would be useful. If has a radius fragment so it's okay for it to be a little slower than your main weapon.
The siege mag will never be useful in its stated role unless it has a range exceeding base defenses. It can actually probably live with its current speed if its lifetime is high enough to smash stations from beyond their weapon range.

Literally is the new Figuratively
In the later parts of the game? yes, but they are the best choice for busting early/mid game stations IMO, when going face to face with heavily armed/armored stations like sung citadels and dwarg forts I just CHAAAARGE and start spamming siege MAGS, the station almost always goes boom before it gets to fire 1 shot back.
They also can go pretty fast if you launch them while moving.

Both are perfectly fine. Have you SEEN the damage on high-flux mags? Yeah, they're expensive, but compared to buying a Rassiermesser or NAMI heavy launcher, they're a great bargain. The 3k is fine simply on account of being a stupidly powerful non-military station buster.
Neither are really meant for shooting down gunships, but that's what the cluster mag is for. Siege is also a misnomer. Stop worrying about conserving ammo, go straight in, and enjoy the ability to shatter stations that have all their defenses intact. Just try not to get caught in the death blast. If you insist on plinking away stations from outside their range, get a freaking howitzer.

those are good points.
I used to charge with Siege MAGs in 0.99c when the shields were more powerful. Now that shields are different I thought that nobody was doing that
At the end, I suppose that a Domina Defend can help with that

I practically never use MAGs just because the MAG launcher doesn't offer a really high fire rate or a tracking option. I like to sit on the shift key during combat.

In standard (without expansions with easy early money tricks), I am too cheap to buy the MAG launcher and ammo. Why buy MAGs when NAMI missile launcher is cheaper and pirates drop the ammo I need? Okay, MAGs have better DPS if the grenades hit, but I have better things to spend my meager budget on.
