I also run on XP with a 7 year old laptop and the only slow down I've seen is when 'smoke' from damaged capital ships becomes too thick. That was in 1.2b1 or b2 though (haven't done a full play through with the RCs yet), so I don't know if the amount has been turned down since then.

Just as a point of comparison - Flash games are slow on that laptop, some to the point of unplayable. Yet Transcendence runs fine!

Really? Sometimes when I play Transcendence on my Mac, with full mods (about 30-40), it lags more than some 3D (Windows) games. Although one can say it's because of the mods, I still think this should be able to be improved. Very surprising to find that Trans runs better than Flash game on any computer. :?
Yes, look at my avatar, I have a wyvera type ship.

did you try to force to run the game in GDI and/or in Directx mode ?

No I didn't. I think the game runs on DirectX on my Mac, without me forcing it.

Well, thanks for the advice, but it's not really a big problem, and it'll be too complicated to do on my Mac just to reduce the minimal lag. :)

George must have fixed things up a bit maybe? I noticed the Multiverse was down for maintenance the other day - did you fix it then George? Seems to have done the trick, the random crashes have not happened for the past three days! :D

Tell you something I did notice recently - only a small cosmetic bug, the Centauri Command Ship seems to have lost it's texturing. Not that it's type appears in the game normally anyway. :P

Known issue, A simple mod using LRL15 will fix that.

The fix has not yet been released, but it will be soon (within days). The Multiverse maintenance was for some networking upgrades and minor server updates.
