Including life support.

That's why you die.

Maybe integrate a life support reactor backup system (read: BATTERIES)
It'll keep you alive for an extra minute, but it takes a device slot.

Make it cost... Well, as much as insurance (10k)

The systems which provide the inhabitant of your ship with breathable air, decent temperatures and protection from the outside environment are collectively referred to as life support systems.

I have NO idea what your first post is about. Other than that, I also like the idea about not dying when you run out of fuel.

First post is not entirely clear to me either. What is your reason for self destructing?

Also: running out of fuel does NOT kill you instantly. You get 30 seconds or so of extra time to drift while your life support fails. I'm not sure if this is from the new version or not (I haven't run out of fuel since .80; I only realize this now because I was testing a mod weapon and didn't realize it gobbled 1/4 tank of fuel per shot...;))

Insurance:
If the insurance is making you mad, don't buy it then. Fairly obvious.

If you buy insurance, you intend for it to ressurect you. It should NOT ask you if you want to ressurect or not. That would be redundant, and become an irritant to players that use insurance. It would seem like a bug.

If, as it sounds to me, the insurance is interfering w/ some kind of save scum exploit... Good for the insurance.

Fuel:
Isn't the flashing red lights and pop-up message "LOW FUEL!" enough to make you put some fuel in your engines?

It is the same as running out of food and starving in some RPGs. People scream about that too: "Your characters shouldn't die when you starve them to death, it's not fair!!! "

Thats something different ;)

Now we have the 30 seconds to refuel where you just drift around with everything off...

Before it was like "You eat your last food-item and ZACK instant death because out of food" (to stay with your example)

Starving is fine ;) but you won't starve instantly!

For Transc:
As long as you don't have force fields instead of 'windows' which keep the air inside you won't (shoudn't) die instantly aswell ;)

I didn't say "starve instantly", I said "starve to death".
Days without food until at some point the characters died. That is what people were complaining about that bothered.
So the thirty second delay seems good.

to be honest, you should have had plenty of time to stop, dock, get fuel, refuel, before you ran out. If you didn't then it seems to me you left it too late are were using fuel far too quickly.

That seemed to be the main topic of the post, followed by reasons why that should be. I don't feel that way about it.
Sorry if I sounded too harsh.
