Yay! New version! New stuff! New missions!
....
But I dont get to *see* any of it because the Random Number Generator has decided this game isnt going to have any Commonwealth Fortresses anywhere!
Augh!
...
Sorry. Just had to winge a little at that...
The RNG hates me
8-)
I was en-route to the galatic core when I posted...
Any other time it would have been an interesting challenge, but having it happen just when theres new stuff to do in militaryland was obnoxious 8-)
And yeah, the BM got me enough gear to survive till ringerspace, at which point I got the firepower to go back and wreak my terrible revenge on everything I had to carefully sneak past in earlier systems 8-)

It can be tough yeah, i need to adapt every game to the new surroundings but i have a tendency to stick with succesfull tactics from earlier games. Or i will just have switched stratingship and regret it immediately. This is just from the early phase but one game i find lots of hotels but no blackmarket, the next i want to try mining but can't find a mining laser anywhere. Getting one of either the armsdealer or armordealer is paramount to get enough money. Maybe one more friendly station can be added for each (pre-St Katherine's) system?
We had a thread on the early game about a year ago so i'm sorry if this has been suggested and discussed before but my feelings are as follows: I'm bored with fighting my way thru the Arena.
Whenever i'm in a system with asteroids the program has problems with the amount of calculations and gamespeed suffers. Is anyone playing with 256 Mb RAM?
When i destroy a pirate miningstation i want to get some ceralloy and xenotite ores on occasion, and perhaps a mining laser. Maybe that's possible, i did not look that up in the xml.
The Korolov missions are often too easy, i remember from way back when before they were tweaked they were terribly hard, it's fun when on occasion a tough one is mixed in. ( *thinks* this feeling might stem from too much practice, just like re the arena) Or the program may take into account when your ship has a omni turbolaser and send other pirates to shoot up the freighter.
Cleaning out each system takes a lot of time (quality time i know, i have been told off before!) I was thinking fuelstations would want to advertise so why not make their presence known as you enter a system. The Rigel stargate is another thing i'd like to know upfront, this helps cos you know you can install at the other end.

I'm also finding it harder to run into CW fortresses as well as CSC's. My last game I managed to make Fleet Lieutenant and that was it, and it was through med donations--2 med CSC's. There was only one mission CSC and I didn't hold a high enough rank--the guards blocked me from seeing the Admiral, which really sucked.
@ Frits. I think it'd be kewl for the arena to have a mystery challenge after beating the Drake. A special challenge where you don't know what you'll come up against, as the opponent would be chosen at random through the code. Now that would alleviate the bordom!

a renegade Ares Phobos-class Dreadnaught...
Have a nice day

Here's the deal, Spoilers ahead:FAD wrote:I did complete Point Juno, even did that "request" mission as well. Never got any promotions from any of that.
Completing the mission at Point Juno gets you 1200 XP in the fleet. And the table for ranks in the fleet is:
Code: Select all
level XP Rank
1 0 None
2 200 Privateer
3 600 Master Sergeant
4 1500 Fleet Lieutenant
5 3000 Fleet Commander
6 10000 Fleet Captain
You're right, Frits, I meant the Tripoli. Good catch! And I can usually beat him with an omni Turbolaser and frag's....just stay on top of him and fire both weapons.
Anyway, in that game I only ran into 3 CSC's and two of them were med donators. I had a lot of meds that I kept donating @ $10,087 worth a pop (16 illegal meds and 1 med supply) and reached the rank of Fleet Lieutenant. I kept donating that amount for 5-6 more times until I ran out of meds, but never recieved any more rank. The third CSC was where the Admiral was (in the bridge) but I didn't have the rank to enter. Ended up completing the game as a Fleet Lieutenant and couldn't run any more missions. Point Juno ripped me off I think unless, there's now a limit on med donations to gain XP?
