early game millitary equipment

I don't like it that you have to go post St. K to equip something that you can get in the first system. Even with a smugglers cargo hold you can't do anything with them. That kills the usefulness of getting an early black market station or finding any military equipment. The only use of the black market stations right now is to get a smugglers hold we need to get back to where they where useful.

If you could ally and dock at charon pirate stations you might be able to get installed earlier...

If you get your hands on a waste cannon and a hotel and a BMS you can possibly get the hold installed...

I, always destroying BM property don't have your problem but I see your point. It can get especially irritating when the Dwarg show up at the same time as the first Commonwealth Fortress.

Military items are pretty strong, and the point of not being able to get a military ID in the beginning of the game is so you can't install them on your ship. I think it's pretty good as is. I usually never find military stuff until a system or so before St. K's.

As for getting BM IDs, I try to pick one up at the first BM station I see, and then get the shielded hold installed. Waste cannons are a bit tough to find. Drugs and other small illegals, on the other hand, aren't, and can be found somewhat frequently in pirate bases. They both get you the ID.

With a tinker in St. K its easy to get a waste cannon constructed from the sapiens in St. K and Charon.
