Now, we have a pretty good page on Wikipedia about the game. The game is also on a lot of free games sites such as:
Abandonia Reloaded
MobyGames
Demonews (sorely needs updating)
I have more links if anyone wants them.
Edit: I even found that the game is liked by Italian speakers. They seem to be exaggerating a bit too much, though (Babelfish does pretty well here).
However, I think there is more we can do to make Transcendence more popular:
1. Making banners
2. Website affiliations
3. Advertising on games
4. Advertising on forums
5. Telling your friends
6. Games sites
7. Translating the game
8. Donating to the game
9. Banner advertisments
1. Banners, something along the lines of that terrible banner (though hopefully a lot better) that I hideously constructed (and can no longer find), are a great way of advertising. Sticking a nice and shiny banner in your signature on forums to promote the game tends to do well for a game's publicity, in my experience.
Anyone with graphical experience should make a few banners (standard sizes are 468x60 and 728x90) and we can try using them.
2. Website affiliations - This is essentially them advertising us, and us advertising them. Similar to a webring, but more direct.
Anyway, if George tries hooking up with a similar-sized gaming community (though hopefully bigger), hopefully that'll mean more traffic to both games and making them better.
3. Advertising on games - For example, say that you are in the leadership of a guild, group or some other such thing in an online game of, say, a hundred people or so, which would put you in a good position to advertise the game, possibly in an announcement or something.
And yes, I do happen to be in such a position.
4. Advertising on forums - Advertising the game (where allowed), in the off-topic section of active forums generally brings in a good number of visitors.
Try only to do so on forums you have been active and have a decent degree of respect on, as randomly visiting forums and advertising stuff generally gets frowned upon.
This would work especially well with a big banner at the beginning of your post then a short description of the game with a few links to places like the official site, and the forums.
5. Telling your friends, classmates, workmates etc. does actually tend to work pretty well, as long as they like that sort of thing. If they like the game, they usually tell others about it (especially if you ask them, or they become part of the game's community), and it spreads.
In these days of electronic gadgetry and advertising, word of mouth often gets forgotten about.
Also, telling someone such as your boss or headteacher or someone else in an influential position would probably do the game a lot of good

6. Games sites, like the ones I mentioned earlier, are an excellent way of advertising a game. Most of people I know that play this game found it either through me or through games sites.
Now, I tend not to use such websites, but many others do.
7. Translating the game into other languages means many other people who can't speak/read English can now understand the game. Translating into french, spanish, german, italian etc. isn't too hard and could potentially bring in a lot of new players.
8. Donating money to George for the game will help bring costs down for him, and actually pay for the game (like the programs and stuff he purchased to make the graphics, for example). Money would also probably be a good incentive for him to spend more time on the game

9. Y'know those flashing adverts you get on sites that deliberately try to attract your attention? We could always do that, but most people, like me, hate those so I'm just mentioning them in passing.
10. We could always raise the money to pay a skywriter to write the URL for the Transc website in the sky over New York or somesuch place....

Now, if everyone did their little bit to publicise the game it could be so much greater
