I'm for the fleets mod
I think a pacifist game would be fun.
Barring that a lowest score game. Whoever is closest to 10000 which is what you get from winning. I believe score is calculated solely from kills and not wealth, no?
I also like mod challenges. As fossa says the hall can be a large as you want.
I propose the hornet challenge mod be dug up and used. I don't believe we ever got around to doing it properly.

How about a mod that changes all Corsairs into Iocrym Command ships?
Anyway, figure out what mods. Post scores w/ the name of the mod used and I'll put 'em up on the first post. A link to the specific mod would be nice too.
I'm trying to avoid making any decisions about what challenges to use. That should be up to everybody.
The first ones I put were just ones I'd seen mentioned before.

I'll submit mine, maybe it'll win in a category. Normal game, started in 0.98b, but transfered to 0.98c towards the end. No mods, no resurrections. Sapphire-class yacht.

It's an ongoing list.
You ousted Fossaman as the Top Dog yacht pilot.
The versions probably shouldn't matter.
Eventually I hope that the list gets fleshed out; but I don't want to spam it w/ a bunch of my own scores, just to fill in the blanks.

I'm trying for a Wolfen Top Dog score now. Its a challenge... shortage of upgrade slots is a real concern.dvlenk6 wrote:Eventually I hope that the list gets fleshed out; but I don't want to spam it w/ a bunch of my own scores, just to fill in the blanks.

I just tried it using a freighter, uninstalling the omni-laser. I made a good stack of credits through fuel depot -> ice station -> hotel trading early on, enough to buy a decent shield... which I didn't get to buy as I was destroyed by pirates before I could.OddBob wrote:I think a pacifist game would be fun.![]()

I had no score register. Nothing recording my existence even happened on the high score table.
It would have been a good game to play straight. I could have bought a lancer cannon in the first system, a omni-turbolaser in the second, which was a double asteroid belt system.
Might be an easier challenge if the player uses the Wolfen, the speed and better starting shield would be an advantage.

I didn't think about trading to get credits - I was thinking that one would have to do Korolev missions and use your own ship as a shield while the freighter fought off the pirates itself. Then once you complete the first mission, if you started with a Sapphire, you have almost enough money to buy your first auton (and you'll need a lot of autons).
But then I remembered that things your auton kills count as things you killed so there's no real way to record that kind of pacifist game.

No resurrections, except from insurance conglomerates. Those are paid for, don't show up on the final score, and can only be done a limited number of times.dvlenk6 wrote:No resurrections allowed.
I'm pretty firm on that for myself.
I won't change it, unless a lot of people really want it that way.
We'll see what some others have to say about it first.
I wouldn't oppose a score with a resurrection count if, say, they needed to because of the getting stuck in the arena bug. As long as it was made clear.

Well, since you decided to announce that you intend to cheat on the resurrection count, I guess that I won't be able to include any of your scores.PlayMeNow wrote:Crap...next time I'll steer away from Teratons & Ares, and I'll also terminate Transcendence.exe when I die
Unless we all decide that resurrections are OK, of course. Then the point becomes moot.

Cardinal, I thought that the arena wall bug had been fixed. If you've been stuck in the Arena walls lately, you should report that as a bug.
I've only been stuck in the arena wall once, that was in 0.98b. I'm just more careful around the arena walls and its never been an issue again for me.

eh, i like ressurections, plus if you use them, you get your score halved, so you do suffer for using them.
