Quick status update

I'm working on a few more things for version 0.98c and I expect to release it in the next couple of weeks.

This is not a very big update, but it does have a couple of nice things. One thing I did is to add the ability to have ships with more than 20 turn-facings. I've changed the stock Sapphire to have 40 facings.

So far it feels pretty good, but I'm interested in everyone's feedback.

It shoulds be ready in just a couple of week.

More facings will make it turn a lot smoother ^_^

With this new version it will be possible to create a mod that does that. But I don't think you'll like it:

Do the math: 1 degree per turns means 360 turns to turn the ship all the way around. At 30 frames/second, that means 12 seconds (real time) to turn the ship. That seems too slow to me.

I would also have to increase the frame-rate, which would not be possible on some computers.

Actually, the game right now *is* software rendered. I only use DirectX to access screen memory directly. It is possible that Wine has a problem doing this.

At some point in the future I might add an option to go through GDI to blt the screen. That will make the game slower, but it will make the run-Transcendence-in-a-window option more useable. It will also help it run on Wine.

is direction based on frame or stored separately? If it was done separately I don't see the reason you couldn't get the direction (only when it has turned from the previous frame) and use that to get the correct frame.

But I've been reading all of your mission ideas and I like them. I would like to add more missions for 0.99. In particular, I would like at add some more interesting Korolov missions.

Sweet! Missions are a really fun part of the game. What sort of Korolov missions do you have in mind? I'm personally looking forward to more outlaw missions (hint hint)
