I wanted to improve upon the current mod repo, and I came up with some php code that will parse the zip file or just mod file, and get a "template" from it. this would save time and make it easy to post everything, another thing it does it get a list of all the unid's the extension uses and adds them to an array (I didn't do anything with DB's yet) and will check too see if the unid is already used. And let you know when your uploading. It also has sorting ability.

it would be cool if someone came up with a gui that could handle ids, put in templates of things like weapons, general items, armor, shields, ships and show pics of what it will look like (the ship or the item screen). More fancy gui could handle the importing of images.

anyway lets make a list of what would be cool in such a program
handling of header info such as id's
create a ship, station
template for a given number of armor, Devices, items (both count and lookup)
DriveImages with the ability to show how it would look in any direction
DockingPorts with dots showing where on station or ship showing where they are
events
insert list for common events
templates for shields, armor, weapons, fuel, drives, reactors, generic items
DockScreens for a given number of actions
show what the dockscreen should look like
insert lists filtered by modifiers (if item) or type
import and view images

sounds cool the main things I want out of it are easy image checking (I don't want to check every time I adjust the image to see if it is correct in game or to see if I put the drive in the correct position) , ID handling (that big block of text would easily be done automatically) ,and insert lists filtered by modifiers (if item) or type (so I can easily see my options and not worry about typos)
The other things are just icing on the cake.
Maybe with the third version you can do some error checking.
ps. don't forget to import images you have to create the image ID and put it in the correct folder, that means you already have to be able to create basic extentions

Its comming very soon. I've seen the new xelerus and its nice. I've been working on the XML and Zip parser, in the next few weaks a beta should be ready.
