Can you make a transspace jumpdrive clone that takes you back to the gate in the Oort cloud if you use it inside a stargate? Or maybe make a "deluxe model" that has a couple new destinations besides all the normal ones. Then you could go to a few other novelty systems. Maybe one with a bunch of dead planets and asteroids and only one, giant monster/ship whose harvesting you interrupt.
That, or just put another stargate in the first system like what Cardinal was getting at. You could add a mission where you'd find out that the remaining peoples' of Sol had become xenophobic and set up a giant cloaking field around the stargate, but that after completing a mission in the later star systems, you could get access to the cloaked gate and take it back.
Solar System?

Very great ideas. I like this, visiting Sol system would be so cool, esp. if there were some mission involved. As for getting there, it's no problem - it's easy to make a special object which just objGatesYou to the Sol system. Just like you said, a one way ticket, and to get back you'd have to solve some quest. Like it very much.
I suspect folks in this thread are considerably overstating the level of destruction in the Sol system. I would consider the place was pretty trashed, but not unrecoverably so.Periculi wrote:lol, visit mother earth- but be sure to bring your hazmat suit!
My interpretation of the current situation is that its more of a political and economic backwater than a ruin. Its doing fine, but just isnt *important*

Its also worth noting that Earth has several specialty agricultural exports, so its biosphere cant be in *that* bad a shape...

All of that is groundside stuff, though. What about space infrastructure? I got the impression that Earth is an entirely different polity than the commonwealth from reading the background material. The commonwealth may well have decided just to leave Sol alone after the war.
