Defining the 'gate-zone' of a stargate

Can this be manually defined, or must all star-gates be set to 128x128 images to look properly?

Can custom gate effects be used as well?

I was planning to use a spaceEnviromentType, register it with objRegisterForSystemEvents and make an entire portion of the system to automatically gate the playership when entered :shock:

think that would work for a region about 256 pixels across?

well, for a spaceenviromentype the minimum size would be 512x512
but I still haven't tried it, it's one of the features of the battlestar galactica mod i'm planning... :/

I just did some tests and you can change the stargate image to anything (I tested a nebula and rsShipInterior at 600x400) however, the gate zone seems to be hard coded.

The only way around it would be to have an event auto-gate the player like digdug suggested.

Or spawn multiple gates, most of them invisible (or 1px black stations). Then place one graphic in the midst of that and you have your larger gate zone...

I'd love to see an example of a gate-on-approach type scheme.

I'm thinking of revamping the one-star multi-system idea.
