I have an idea were its more like a warning screen
e.g
on the top and bottom there is a gradient scrolling color from yellow to red and text saying "WARNING" also an alarm that goes faster depending on how critical your armor is.
In 1.02 the damage flash is greatly lessened and in some cases eliminated. Here is how it handles it:
1. Damage flash only happens when a single hit causes more than 1/20th of the max HP of the armor segment. Thus if you have 100 hp armor, only hits that caused 5 hp or more will flash.
2. Damage flash no longer stacks. If you get hit multiple times, in one tick, you only get one flash (this will lessen the flash from fragmentation weapons).

It's much better, but lancer-using enemies (and swarms of enemies that you arn't prepared for) are still problematic, if slightly less so (because of the no-stacking)
thanks!
One suggestion (bmbl's?) was to move the flashing layer to the background behind the ships. Something else to think about.

Remove, but have messages at bottom of screen indicating damage in %.
I say this because sometimes when im in battle i forget my armor has started to take damage. i come close to death most of those times.
I really don't care if I get my hair cut... *snip* NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
josh, once again you are raising a thread that is long dead. This issue has already been resolved in version 1.02 (which you would see if you read the thread). If you want to bring up the issue once again, please make a new thread.
