What do you think about my Idea :

- The systems should be biggest than now.
Maybe twice as now ! Then the game can be longer
and more intressting for new players. :o More fun
Waiting for comments.

No, binary systems are hated so much as it is. They lag slow computers and have long travel times at any rate.

Maybe you would like to play Drako Slyiths mod, The Network... it has 100 systems.

He means physically bigger systems, not more systems (But more systems is a better solutions IMO)

Try Singularity on Xelerus. The first system is huge.

The problem with huge systems is it takes 25.8 years to escort a freighter across it, and for military missions by the time you reach them they've already had grandchildren, their grandchildren have had grandchildren, and they've all died of old age.

Huh. That's quite an interesting way of looking at things.
Korolov station: "Would you like to escort this freighter across the system?"
Me: "What's the point? By the time we get there, you'll be dead, the guys who needed these goods desperately will be dead, and all because some idiot thought it was a good idea to go build a station on the other side of this realistically sized yet simultaneously over-large solar system.
Korolov Station: "Aw hell, stop wasting my time won't you!"

You need a multi-generational ship to transport the goods and escort the transport. By the time you get there Korolov has been dead for generations. Eight apocalypses have killed 99% of humanity. You arrive at the station and find you are the last humans in the universe. Rather ironic, isn't it?

It's not worth the 400 credits they were going to give you anyway! :D

Space travel sucks when you put it into realistic terms. >.>

Except when you get to the station where everyone is dead, you can just transfer all their billions of now useless credits into your account to buy and install upgrades from now non-working robots.

In a realistically scaled system, using the relativistic speeds that transcendence ships travel at, it would take days to travel across a system (translating to an hour or two of gamplay, and a good chunk of minutes running the game on autopilot). Systems in transcendence are considerably compressed for gameplay reasons (along with time already having been compressed to start with)

Yeah, in the end gameplay trumps all -- and that's fine. There is a certain fine balance between realism and gameplay that needs to be found -- even big developers are trying to find that happy medium (with mixed results) and there is no reason that indie developers can't try to find that too.

TBH I like the way Transcendence works -- while I do like the bigger, Binary systems, they do lag even on my newish (read 1.5 years old) decent-ish laptop, and so I can understand that anyone on anything less (eg a Netbook) will struggle. Transcendence has smaller and larger systems anyway and even some of the larger singular systems can still take you several seconds of real-time to travel across in Autopilot.

also due to the high number of enemy and friendly stations and other encounters, the player is more likely to be jumping in and out of autopilot to check out new things. The game would get boring if you had to travel for ages on autopilot twiddling your thumbs just to get anywhere.
