I am working on a mod creation program that even an idiot could use, made in visual basic. Wish me luck!

Well, I have no VB experience at all, but i'm up for being an alpha and beta tester, and testing whatever comes out of it.

No...I was just making it known to those only on the OTF that I want to be a tester.

I might put the project on the backburner untill I learn more about VB. I think I know enough to make a TIC encyclopedia (might not be used much, but its good practice.

You're getting nothing but testers and no ideas or help! :lol:

I just want to know, will you put in an option for devices that do more than one thing? Like weapon-enhancing reactors, etc.?

its on the cards, but not until I get the basics sored out. I'm aiming for a modifiable no0effect item at the moment, then will move on to other stuff.

This is an interesting idea...

What would this mod creation program do exactly? (XML editing? Graphic editing? Etc.) What features would it have? Are there any existing mod programs that you are using as inspiration?

You should ask George what programs he's using.... and if he's happy with them.

lol, it's gonna edit .xmls. Nothing fancy. I haven't got far. One day it'll let you create new items/weapons/shields/armour. (that'll be the final version, methinks)

Oh, just xml editing. Why bother making a new editor for that? There are plenty of good text editors that have syntax coloring, undo/redo, search and replace and the like. (OK, maybe not plently, but several, which is more then enough.)

Try EditPlus. It has almost every feature you could want in a text editor and it's nicely configurable.
