Honestly, I never thought of the insta-deaths as anything other then completely fair. All you have to do is think! Instead of assuming that there are no consequences for actions in the game. You might as well call the station enforcer an unfair insta-kill since you can kill stations before you could ever hope to hold that monster at bay.Shrike wrote:Insta-kill is ALWAYS bad......you might as well just have Random reactor accidents that blow you up....they make about as much sense as some of the instakills in the game currently.
1. Fabricators... you want me to toss what into the organic furnace that displays pleasure/anger?! I still havent figured out how to do it right... but I've never annoyed it to the extremely bad side yet.
2. Slaves... thats just obvious, slave trading is a breach of "human" rights, serves the player right for being a scum b ag.

Agreed about the armor thing, when your armor hits a negative value you die, no "hint" needed even my brother figured that out before it happened.
As for the other minor "secrets", on my first time playing...
1. I ran into the black market... obviously didnt think about attacking friendly transports for BM IDs or what to do with illegal cargo (I did figure out to jettison it before going to an official station, I would keep 1 cheap illegal object to test a station, tinkers aren't, CMs are, etc. same with figuring out where to sell illegal goods)
2. I just found the huari quest! Dang that ship at the end is... nasty. I had two contemplations and ferrian plasma cannon so I was fine but, just, wow.

3. As for mining being high return... not really, I mean if your a cargo ship and you do every rock in the starting system you can get 10k... but so what? Mining is a boring, grinding way to wealth, otherwise those guys in the boros miners wouldnt be doing it.
4. The weapons research guy... seemed pretty obvious. Bring him "alien" techs, or rather non generic human ones. I am a packrat so I had mules and simply pulled out a lot of dwarg, urak, heliotrope, etc weapons/armor.
5. Tinkers, doesnt take much to figure out custom work... as for exploits if you find cheating fun that is your own deal. I know people who custom make maps so that they always win in strategy games. Lame? sure, remove it? nah.
6. Arena: Who didnt wander in and fight? I know some people are just there to explore, trade, mine, but... who didn't at least try it once. Once you realize it is another source of money/wreakage/loot...
And on that note... I HATE MISSIONS. hehe. I hate wandering around the galaxy looking for object X, or system YYZ, or guard transport ABC... but those escourt missions are balanced by being able to kill the big pirate ships for fame and status.
the Huari mission I was excited about because it was new. (is there a way to do that dream correctly? yes or no please)

One shouldnt play the game looking for device X, or gun Y, or Armor Z... you should play to have fun.
Also... it seems 1.08 is the new version, I'm still playing v1.05.
