Honestly, I never thought of the insta-deaths as anything other then completely fair. All you have to do is think! Instead of assuming that there are no consequences for actions in the game. You might as well call the station enforcer an unfair insta-kill since you can kill stations before you could ever hope to hold that monster at bay.

1. Fabricators... you want me to toss what into the organic furnace that displays pleasure/anger?! I still havent figured out how to do it right... but I've never annoyed it to the extremely bad side yet.
2. Slaves... thats just obvious, slave trading is a breach of "human" rights, serves the player right for being a scum b ag.

Agreed about the armor thing, when your armor hits a negative value you die, no "hint" needed even my brother figured that out before it happened.

As for the other minor "secrets", on my first time playing...
1. I ran into the black market... obviously didnt think about attacking friendly transports for BM IDs or what to do with illegal cargo (I did figure out to jettison it before going to an official station, I would keep 1 cheap illegal object to test a station, tinkers aren't, CMs are, etc. same with figuring out where to sell illegal goods)

2. I just found the huari quest! Dang that ship at the end is... nasty. I had two contemplations and ferrian plasma cannon so I was fine but, just, wow.

3. As for mining being high return... not really, I mean if your a cargo ship and you do every rock in the starting system you can get 10k... but so what? Mining is a boring, grinding way to wealth, otherwise those guys in the boros miners wouldnt be doing it.

4. The weapons research guy... seemed pretty obvious. Bring him "alien" techs, or rather non generic human ones. I am a packrat so I had mules and simply pulled out a lot of dwarg, urak, heliotrope, etc weapons/armor.

5. Tinkers, doesnt take much to figure out custom work... as for exploits if you find cheating fun that is your own deal. I know people who custom make maps so that they always win in strategy games. Lame? sure, remove it? nah.

6. Arena: Who didnt wander in and fight? I know some people are just there to explore, trade, mine, but... who didn't at least try it once. Once you realize it is another source of money/wreakage/loot...

And on that note... I HATE MISSIONS. hehe. I hate wandering around the galaxy looking for object X, or system YYZ, or guard transport ABC... but those escourt missions are balanced by being able to kill the big pirate ships for fame and status.

the Huari mission I was excited about because it was new. (is there a way to do that dream correctly? yes or no please)

One shouldnt play the game looking for device X, or gun Y, or Armor Z... you should play to have fun.

Also... it seems 1.08 is the new version, I'm still playing v1.05.
Best score: To be updated soon!

1) The thing about slaves is that you only get thrown in jail for selling slaves, never for buying them because it's expected that you'll free them. But that's stupid because who's to say that you couldn't be buying slaves to do work for you or to use as fabricator fuel? Oh that's right, it's because the pilgrim loudly announces that there are slaves in the cargo hold every time (s)he docks at certain stations. I still never understood how the CW knows when you sell slaves...

2) From what I can tell and what I've read, no. I won't go further than that because spoilers and whatnot.

and now a word from the worst Pilot in the universe :

in version 1.08 I have actually had my Armor go to 0 : and not die.
I was amazed at that but happy.

I do not like the obvious 1.08 decline of mining colony presence : I think a return to the station configurations should be done so they are consistent and get the things they need ( like ammunition for the defenses ) .....that is not to suggest that one station lacking Ammo annoys the Hades out of me.

Korolov should be Corporate in ALL Versions and Taikon Ventures should be Ringers.

1.08 is great: i love the effects, seems slightly harder and challenging even to my Cruiser : but I still agree that 1.05 has merits the versions after it does not compare well with.

1.08 does not like it when you change your mind or AI targets get destroyed ( as if the AI thinks the universe is perfect and goes bonkers if the target vanishes : had a salvager crash the game because I picked up the targeted cargo crate)

One of the things I want to see back in the game : the Command Ship : thankfully it is still in the game to call out and it's random encounter as it flies around the system is a nice " How ya doin " that kind of reminds you to get your stuff upgraded :)

the Huari : in my view they are servants of Oracus : the dreams go well no matter how you do them : the problem is the space between dream and battle: if your not quick and well armed : your toast. you must expect to be tossed into an immediate fight whenever you exit a dock screen : more so with the Huari being as they are Friendly to YOU.
Kind of like the Explorer in Heretic : once it is angry: it is only Angry with YOU.

in Heretic I know that the Iocrym will not intentionally attack the Commonwealth station : or they used to not, i should say because I have to tested this recently :

But if you make yourself a target , hide in the rocks, they will fire on you as the Commonwealth tries to defend : just be extremely careful : if you loose that station while you are Fuel dependent, your toast in that system.
Flying Irresponsibly In Eridani......

I don't like to kill pirates in cold blood ..I do it.. but I don't like it..

Wild mass guessing is that way.
Random disconnected ideas are that way.

This thread is specifically for the problem of mandatory spoilers. It's also a zombie. Prior to Civram's post it was dead for more than a year.

The forum dosen't make it particularly easy to determine age of posts in a thread. For one thing, the individual post dates are in a stupid position. Or Atarlost would probably have seen that it was LunarAvenger and not Cirevam that restarted things.

A plugin to e.g. change the borders of individual posts (not topics as a whole) older than 6 months to red or something would be pretty awesome, too.

And Wolfy is looking at my join date instead of the date I started the thread.

Yeah, we need to find a board theme that has important information like timestamps in a reasonable location.

We can probably tweak the forums to display that information easier, I generally look before I post, but we can always just make the colors different to make it obvious.

Who split the thread? It's now been reduced to contextless gripes about the forum software. If you wanted to clean it up the point to split it would be when it went off topic. LunarAvenger and Civram were on topic even if late.
